Who is responsible for your information
Gaffer Websites is a trading name of Aron Goswami, a sole trader based in England, and is the data controller for the information described here.
Based in Plumstead, South East London. A postal address is available on request by email, and a full trading address will be published here before the first client project begins.
What is collected
If you fill in the enquiry form on this website, the following is collected:
- Your name
- Your business name
- Your email address or phone number
- Whatever you write in the message box
Nothing else. The website check on the home page runs entirely in your own browser. Your answers are never sent anywhere and are gone the moment you close the page.
Why it is collected and the legal basis
Your details are used for one purpose, which is to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to carry out the work you asked for. The lawful basis is legitimate interests for replying to an enquiry you started, and performance of a contract once you become a client.
You will not be added to a mailing list and you will not receive marketing you did not ask for.
Who it is shared with
Your details are never sold, rented or passed to anyone for marketing. Two providers process the data purely to deliver it:
- Formspree, which delivers the enquiry form to the inbox
- Google, as the email provider for the business mailbox
No other third party receives your information unless the law requires it.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted within 12 months. Records relating to paid work are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because HMRC requires business records to be kept for that long.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your information, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being used, or ask for its use to be restricted. Email the address above and it will be dealt with free of charge within one month.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You are welcome to raise it here first, but you do not have to.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no session tracking and no local storage. That is why there is no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.
One thing worth being upfront about: the fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. That means your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, and your IP address is visible to Google as part of making that request. No cookie is set by it and no advertising profile is built from it.
Websites built for clients
Where a website is built for a business, that business is the controller of any personal information its own customers submit through it. Gaffer Websites acts as a processor for that data, uses it solely to build and maintain the site, and never uses it for any purpose of its own. A written agreement covering this is provided on request.
